Located in the heart of the beautiful French region of Anjou in the Loire Valley (2hrs drive southwards from the port of Saint Malo or just over 1hr north of Nantes with its international airport), we invite you to enjoy a most wonderful dream wedding experience, fit for a queen and king at Château Challain. The setting is romantic, the facilities are splendid and the welcome truly is second to none.

Due to France’s strict residency requirements that apply when non-French nationals wish to marry in France  (one of the many legal implications being that you would need to have resided in France for 30 days), English couples choose to have the legally binding wedding ceremony in the UK prior to travelling to  the Château Challain with relatives and friends. Here, the options are varied and the most popular type of wedding is a Humanist Wedding Ceremony that can be arranged on your behalf at a variety of stunning settings within the grounds of Château Challain:  on the bridge… under a gazebo set in front of the Château at the end of the beautiful driveway… in a purpose-built marquee… in the Memorial Tower… Choices are definitely plentiful and every wedding created at Château Challain is a unique experience designed to the very last detail according to your wishes and chosen ‘theme’ for your special day.

As expected in a country that is world-renowned for its gastronomy, options for your wedding reception include the finest choices displayed in a variety of tempting menus that can even be customised to suit your preferences. There are also some excellent entertainment suggestions including a harpist, jazz band, fireworks display and more, plus, of course a hairdresser and make-up artist can be booked, if you so desire.

Important: To experience this wonderful wedding venue, a compulsory 2-night stay at the chateau is required (and this will guarantee exclusive use). Accommodation available includes 6 lavish suites and 4 luxurious bedrooms. Additionally, if you require extra accommodation for your guests, there is a Mezzanine Apartment for 3 persons, a Gate House that sleeps 5 and a choice of  B&B’s that we could also recommend.
