Your wedding planner

Your wedding will be one of the most important events of your life and arranging it with Planet Weddings will be as pleasurable as the day itself. We have outlined below a rough guide explaining the various procedures from the moment we receive your initial query up to the last-minute preparations leading to your big day.

Choosing your nuptial destination

Planet Weddings offer you the option to get married in Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Malta, Gozo, Croatia and France. Please bear in mind that some destinations require longer notice to process your wedding request and this should be taken into account when selecting your nuptial resort.

Choosing the type of wedding & the venue

The type of wedding which can be organised on your behalf will depend on which nuptial destination you have selected. Some simply offer ‘civil ceremonies’ whereas others also give you the option of a religious ceremony. 'Same-sex' weddings are available in Portugal, Italy, Malta and Croatia and we can also arrange 'same-sex' symbolic ceremonies at a variety of locations in Cyprus and Greece for same-sex couples who have had their official wedding ceremony registered in UK.

When we offer a choice of venues for the type of wedding you want, the final decision is a matter of your preference: a civil ceremony at a local Registry Office or within the grounds of a hotel; a religious wedding or blessing at the resort’s church or in the grounds of one of the hotels.

Choosing where you will stay

On weddings taking place at hotels, the costs will be based on the bride and the groom being residents so it is preferable that your holiday reservation is made at that particular hotel (some hotels accept, at a supplement, weddings for non-residents).

For other nuptial venues, we recommend you make your booking in or near the resort where you will be married. Planet Holidays can organise all your travel and accommodation requirements for you and your whole party.

Important Note: Following COVID some hotels will no longer allow non-residents to come in and will request that all guests are residents in the hotel.

Making your initial enquiry and booking

Please use the form opposite email us at weddings@planet-holidays.co.uk with your initial enquiry (please allow 48 hours for us to contact you). If you have a pretty good idea of the date you wish to travel on and which hotel you wish to stay at, we will check the availability of your preferred flight and accommodation. Then we’ll start discussing your wedding plans and if you have not quite decided on the actual venue, we’ll give you all the advice you need.

Your request will be forwarded to our Wedding Co-ordinator at the relevant overseas resort to check on availability of your chosen venue and of the person responsible to conduct your wedding/blessing. We strongly recommend that you advise your guests attending your wedding to book their flight and accommodation with Planet Holidays as soon as possible.

Wedding deposit required at the time of booking

- Weddings in 2024, a non-refundable deposit of £550 must be paid by yourself to Planet Holidays at the time of booking if you are also booking your holiday (flights and accommodation) with us or £750 if Wedding Only (for 2025 £600 and £800 respectively).
- Resorts will also require a non-refundable deposit of £100 to secure the registrar.
- Most venues / hotels / restaurants will also require a non-refundable deposit to secure your wedding date and the actual amount will be confirmed at the time of booking.
- Some deposits required for resorts / venues / hotels / restaurants will need to be paid directly to the resort / venue in Euro and other deposits will need to be paid to Planet Holidays.

The paperwork

Before we can confirm your booking you will need to complete and return to us the ‘Marriage Application’ form. We will advise you how and when to obtain all the legal documentation required to process your wedding (please visit the Legal Requirements & Documentation page of this website). We will take you through all the requirements and procedures depending on your nuptial destination and the type of wedding you have selected.

The special touches

This is when we start talking about all the extra special touches to personalise the arrangements for your big day. Wedding bouquets, buttonholes, wedding cake, wedding car, wedding photographs, wedding DVD’s... we’ve thought about everything and we will send you, upon request, details and prices of what is available and can be pre-arranged at your nuptial destination.

Planning your wedding reception

The variety of options for your wedding reception is (almost) as diverse as the choice of nuptial locations we feature. If you are planning to get married in one of our hotels, it may be a compulsory requirement that your reception also takes place on-site and we’ll tell you at the time of booking. We will provide you with details of the special menus available, depending on your budget and number of guests attending your wedding. From small cocktail parties including drinks and canapés after the ceremony, to buffets, beach barbecues and formal dinners, most hotels offer a range of flexible options and a variety of venues, indoor or out.

If you prefer to hold your wedding reception at a picturesque local restaurant or taverna, we will have (depending on your wedding location) plenty of suggestions to offer you and again, we will provide you with all the necessary information to help you make your mind up. At some destinations, options even include the chance to host your reception on a luxurious yacht or catamaran, and... if it’s just the two of you, how about a romantic dinner in the privacy of your terrace at your hotel perhaps? Just tell us what you have in mind at the time of booking and we’ll make all enquiries on your behalf.

Many hotels offering only 'all inclusive' will charge a fee to all non-resident guests coming in on the day of the wedding – If you want to have a private function a wedding menu will need to be booked and paid for extra. A few hotels offering only ‘all inclusive’ will allow you to use your all-inclusive drinks on the day of the wedding.

Important note: Following Covid, some hotels will not allow any non-residents guests to come in the hotel, others will limit the numbers of passes given to non-residents.

Last minute requests

Whilst we urge you not to leave anything until the last minute... there may be a few minor things you’ll suddenly want to request as your departure date approaches. Just call us anytime you wish and we will do our utmost to meet your requests.

Arriving at your destination & countdown to the big day

Your Planet Weddings Wedding Co-ordinator (for weddings in Cyprus & Greece) or Local Agent and/or Hotel Wedding Co-ordinator on behalf of Planet Holidays & Weddings (at other nuptial destinations) will contact you shortly after you arrive at your resort to go through all the arrangements made on your behalf, make preparations to finalise all the documentation and organise any official visits which may be required. This will also be the time to discuss the final details for anything else you have asked us to organise such as the flowers, transportation to the wedding venue, the reception, etc., plus perhaps advice on booking hairdresser and beauty treatments. As your big day approaches, specific details about timings and procedures before and during the actual ceremony will be discussed with you.

Your wedding day

Plenty of time for you to relax and get ready while your Wedding Co-ordinator makes a final check on everything that is expected such as the delivery of the flowers, transportation to the venue, the photographer, the wedding reception, etc. The Wedding Co-ordinator will also be responsible to ensure that everyone leaves on time to reach the wedding location and that everything runs smoothly up until we leave you to celebrate the happy event with family and friends.

After your wedding

Depending on which resort you got married in, your marriage certificate may not be ready to take back with you before you return home, in which case we will forward it to your home address. If you had engaged the services of a photographer, the photos high resolutions) will be sent to you online using ‘we transfer’ approximately 4 to 5 weeks after the wedding for some resorts and a lot more for others and you will be required to download them on your computer. Videos will take longer to be produced.

Wedding packages

To make things easier for you, we have put together a variety of packages which include the essential touches our couples usually ask us to organise. You'll also have the opportunity to add other 'extras' to make it as personalised as you wish it to be.
